Installation of a modern single-slope steel structure warehouse in Iceland
Located at the junction of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, Iceland faces an extreme and variable climate characterized by extreme cold, strong storms, and heavy snowfall year-round. The successful construction of this single-slope steel structure warehouse project not only demonstrates the technical resilience of Yirong Group’s high-standard prefabricated steel structure system but also marks a new milestone in its cross-border delivery capabilities in the high-latitude, cold-climate market of Northern Europe.
In response to Iceland’s frequent strong storms and prolonged heavy snowfalls in winter, the Yirong technical team conducted rigorous and meticulous calculations in structural design and steel selection.
Single-slope roof design: The project innovatively adopts a highly efficient single-slope roof design. In Iceland’s windy and snowy environment, a single-slope roof with a specific angle effectively guides strong winds and heavy snow to slide down in a single direction, fundamentally reducing the instantaneous and long-term static snow load on the roof and ensuring the absolute safety of the building structure.

Single-slope Steel Structure Warehouse Installation
Strong Frame Support: The main load-bearing beams and columns are uniformly constructed using high-specification H-beams with high tensile and bending strength, forming a rigid portal frame framework. The secondary structure is fully equipped with high-corrosion-resistant galvanized C-beam purlins, impervious to the corrosive effects of high-latitude island environments with high salt spray and high humidity, ensuring the overall geometric network remains rock-solid even after decades of wind and snow.
Fully Encased Polyurethane (PU) Energy-Saving Enclosure
Minimizing indoor heating energy consumption during Iceland’s long polar nights and freezing temperatures is a core objective of this project.
Superior Thermal Insulation: The project’s wall and roof cladding systems are all equipped with high-quality polyurethane (PU) sandwich panels with ultra-low thermal conductivity.
Eliminating cold bridges and preventing condensation: The excellent closed-cell rate of rigid polyurethane foam (≥95%), combined with a precise tongue-and-groove joint design, is like putting a fully enclosed “polar down jacket” on the warehouse. It completely cuts off heat exchange between indoors and outdoors, effectively preventing the “cold bridge condensation phenomenon” caused by frost and dripping water on walls due to drastic temperature differences between indoors and outdoors. This provides comprehensive protection for stored goods and saves factory owners over 35% on winter heating electricity costs.

Warehouse Steel Structure Kits Shipment
100% factory-prefabricated with high precision, all bolted installation on site
Construction labor in Iceland is extremely expensive, and the window of opportunity for outdoor work due to severe weather is exceptionally short.
Digitalized lean manufacturing: Within its modern base in China, Yirong Group utilizes automated welding robots and precision CNC equipment to complete 100% precise cutting, blanking, butt welding of node plates, and standardized punching of all components.
Modular, weld-free assembly: All materials are shipped across borders in a closed loop using 40HQ containers. Upon arrival at the Icelandic construction site, workers only needed to perform rigid bolt fastening based on the 3D BIM drawings, eliminating the need for any hot work or secondary cutting. This “building block” construction method increased on-site installation efficiency by 3-4 times, helping clients halve the overall acceptance timeline.
Conclusion
The successful construction of this single-slope steel structure warehouse in Iceland is a prime example of using modern building technology to overcome harsh natural environments. Yirong Group consistently adheres to the highest international safety and quality standards, using reliable “Made in China” manufacturing and worry-free one-stop comprehensive services to build the most robust and energy-efficient commercial fortresses for industrial investors in the world’s coldest and most extreme climate regions.
