Project delivery: Fiji client receives church steel structure

Recently, a Fijian client successfully received the H-shaped steel beam column system and steel frame roof, which were customized by our company, and they have all arrived at the construction site, marking the entry of the core structure of this iconic religious building into the comprehensive construction phase.

Analysis of Core Structure Highlights

H-shaped steel beams and columns: perfect integration of mechanical properties and religious aesthetics

The beams and columns are made of high-strength H-beams (made of national standard Q355B material), and the cross-sectional dimensions are precisely adapted to the Gothic/modern minimalist style design of the church, combining high load-bearing capacity and visual transparency. The H-shaped cross section with biaxial symmetry can withstand typhoon loads that occur once every 50 years (wind pressure resistance ≥ 3kPa), and is connected by truss type nodes to achieve large-span column free space, meeting the lighting needs of church domes and colored glass windows.

The surface adopts environmentally friendly paint technology, and the salt spray corrosion resistance meets the ISO 9227 NSS 1200 hour standard, perfectly coping with the humid and saline alkali erosion of Fiji’s maritime climate.

Steel frame roof: a dual breakthrough in lightweight and seismic resistance

The roof adopts a light steel purlin+truss structure, assembled on site with modular units, which reduces weight by 40% compared to traditional concrete structures and significantly reduces foundation load requirements.

The combination of steel structure and steel truss endows the building with ± 8 degrees of seismic toughness, which is in line with the geological characteristics of Fiji’s location in the Pacific Rim seismic zone. Reserved photovoltaic panel installation interface on the roof to support future green energy upgrades.

Project Value Extension

The delivery of the steel structure is a key milestone after the foundation engineering, and is expected to shorten the overall construction period by 30%. Our company simultaneously provides supporting anti-corrosion solutions and BIM model disclosures to ensure construction accuracy and precise implementation of religious symbol details (such as cross steel structure ornaments).

Fiji customer evaluation

The modular design of the H-shaped steel frame perfectly adapts to the complex shapes of churches, and can still be quickly installed in Fiji’s high temperature and high humidity environment, confirming the reliability of Chinese steel structures! ”Mr. Tavita, the project leader of the client

This delivery not only conveys the core values of “efficiency, low-carbon, and safety” in steel structure buildings, but also uses Chinese technology to help Fiji’s religious buildings move towards a new height of modernization and sustainability.
