One-stop steel structure solution for over 5000㎡ of warehouse in Africa

This warehouse project in Tanzania, Africa, was provided by Yirong Group, offering a one-stop closed-loop solution encompassing detailed architectural design, precision manufacturing of all high-standard materials, international booking and multimodal transport, and on-site installation guidance.

The project has a total construction area of 5967 square meters. Yirong Group’s technical team, closely adhering to the geographical and climatic characteristics of Africa (year-round high temperatures and concentrated rainfall during the rainy season) and the rigid demands of high turnover and low maintenance costs for African industrial and commercial assets, used digital technology to streamline the entire process from design, manufacturing, to delivery, once again setting a benchmark for Chinese fully prefabricated steel structure buildings on the African continent.

Digital Architectural Design Scheme for the Project

To maximize storage capacity and optimize circulation within a nearly 6,000 square meter space, Yirong aligned its design with British standards and local East African building codes during the scheme refinement phase, conducting a 1:1 3D mechanical simulation model.

1. Rigid Frame and Large-Span Portal Frame Design
  • Hardcore load-bearing matrix: The main structure of the warehouse adopts the classic portal frame design comprehensively. The main load-bearing beam and column are uniformly locked with Q355B grade high-quality H-beam with high tensile and bending strength. The surface of the steel structure undergoes strict shot blasting and multiple layers of heavy-duty anti-corrosion coating, which is not afraid of the chronic erosion caused by the tropical oceanic climate and high humidity environment in Africa.
  • High anti-corrosion secondary structure: The structural secondary system is equipped with high thickness galvanized C-shaped steel purlins with CNC precision punching. The thick galvanized layer forms a strong physical and electrochemical dual immune barrier, ensuring structural stability throughout the long life cycle.
  • Classic Gable Design: A rigid gable system is installed at the end of the warehouse roof, which not only enhances the modern industrial aesthetics of the building facade, but also greatly improves the wind pressure and airflow impact resistance of the windward side of the building in terms of mechanics.

2. Multi-Dimensional Space

To help the owner maximize the commercial value of the land, the design incorporates a high-load-bearing steel mezzanine within the warehouse, achieving a three-dimensional expansion of storage space. The upper level can serve as a high-density storage area for lightweight goods or a quality inspection area, while the lower level perfectly accommodates the heavy-duty operation of automated forklifts.

3. Integrated Two-Story Executive Office Area

A two-story modern office area is seamlessly integrated into one side of the warehouse. The office area’s partitions are all made of lightweight, high-strength EPS (polystyrene) sandwich panels. EPS panels offer excellent flatness, a modern and minimalist design, and superior sound and heat insulation properties, effectively blocking noise from warehouse machinery and creating a temperature-controlled and comfortable modern office environment for the management team.

High-Efficiency Enclosure and Aesthetic Display

In terms of both visual appeal and functionality, this project perfectly embodies the aesthetic principle of modern industrial architecture where form follows function, presenting three major highlights:

1. One-Meter Brick Wall and Corrugated Steel Enclosure

A one-meter-high cast-in-place brick-concrete protective wall is specially designed at the base of the building’s four walls. This design not only gives the building a stable and solid visual foundation but also provides excellent protection against flooding, impacts, and small animal damage.

The upper part of the brick walls and the entire roof are covered with high-strength, single-layer anti-corrosion corrugated steel sheets, featuring clean and smooth lines. The interior of the roof creatively employs a composite process combining corrugated steel sheets and high-performance insulation cotton, effectively creating a fully enclosed temperature-controlled barrier for the warehouse, completely blocking the intense heat of the African sun and significantly reducing long-term ventilation energy costs.

2. Staggered Solar Shell

The roof is scientifically arranged with high-transmittance, UV-resistant solar tiles. During the daytime, the solar-powered roofing tiles can bring 100% of the abundant, soft natural light into the nearly 6,000 square meter workshop. This zero-energy lighting not only makes the warehouse interior bright and airy, but is also expected to reduce the owner’s daytime lighting costs by more than 30%.

3. Heavy-duty industrial roller shutters

Multiple main entrances to the warehouse are equipped with highly airtight heavy-duty industrial roller shutters. The roller shutters open and close quickly and save extremely space. Combined with the spacious doorway dimensions, this ensures seamless entry and exit for large container trucks and heavy-duty forklifts in Tanzania, locking in the golden logistics corridor for efficient throughput.

Tanzania Steel Structure Warehouse Design

A Transnational Practice of China’s Precision Manufacturing Supply Chain in Tanzania

From a single 3D BIM detailed design drawing to the precise roar of the assembly line at the Chinese manufacturing base. From multimodal shipping bookings across thousands of miles to remote, high-definition visual installation guidance from Chinese engineers, the successful construction of the 5,967㎡ steel structure warehouse in Tanzania demonstrates Yirong Group’s core strength in delivering large-scale industrial assets overseas.

During on-site assembly, the project fully implemented one-stop modular assembly, with all main and secondary steel structures rigidly bolted together. On-site welding and secondary cutting were 100% eliminated, cutting the overall construction progress in half compared to traditional methods. Yirong Group with its assured high-quality Chinese manufacturing and worry-free full-service supply chain management, is building beacons of efficient turnover and long-term asset preservation for industrial and commercial investors in East Africa and globally.
