Yirong Steel Structure assists the Philippine auto repair shop project
On July 8, 2025, at a construction site on Luzon Island, Philippines, several trucks loaded with steel structure containers were unloading. This is the arrival site of the steel components customized by Yirong Steel Structure for the local auto repair plant. From the straightness of H-shaped steel to the smooth arc of C/Z-shaped steel, from the regular edges and corners of square tubes to the moisture-proof logo on the packaging, this batch of “industrial building blocks” that embody the wisdom of Chinese steel structures will soon build a “steel backbone” for the Philippines’ intelligent auto repair comprehensive service base.

As the core supplier of the project, Yirong Steel Structure deeply integrates customer needs, targeting the tropical monsoon climate of the Philippines, with an average annual rainfall of more than 2,000 mm and frequent typhoons. With the characteristics of large space, high load-bearing capacity and fast assembly of auto repair plants. A full system steel component solution covering H-shaped steel, C/Z-shaped steel and square tubes was tailored. With one-stop service of design, production, transportation and installation, customers can save cross-link coordination costs.
The H-shaped steels delivered this time are mainly Q345B high-strength low-alloy steel, with section heights ranging from 200mm to 400mm. They will be used as the main frame beams and columns of the auto repair shop. On the top of the 24-meter span maintenance workshop, 8 H-shaped steel beams are precisely connected by high-strength bolts. The single-span bearing capacity exceeds 80 tons, which can accommodate 3 large buses for lifting and maintenance at the same time. The columns are made of Q355B material, with a wall thickness of 12mm, and the bottom is embedded in a 1.5-meter-deep concrete base. With the wind-resistant design of the anchor bolts, it can withstand the invasion of the local 12-level typhoon.

Unlike the heavy main structure, C-shaped steel (section height 150mm, thickness 1.8mm) and Z-shaped steel (height 200mm, thickness 2.0mm) are light and tough, and take on the heavy task of enclosure and functional zoning of the auto repair shop. C-shaped steel is used as purlins, laid horizontally along the roof with a spacing of 1.2 meters, and matched with 0.5mm thick color steel plates, which not only ensures the drainage slope of the workshop top (2%), but also reduces the amount of steel used. Z-shaped steel is used for gable enclosure. Its “Z”-shaped bite design can enhance the overall rigidity of the wall surface, and with waterproof sealing strips, it can effectively cope with the continuous heavy rainfall in the rainy season in the Philippines (the maximum rainfall in a single day exceeds 300mm).
Square tubes made of Q235B material (specifications 80mm×80mm×4mm) were also delivered on site. Although they are small in size, they are the key to the functional upgrade of the auto repair shop. The equipment operation platform, tool rack, and lighting bracket in the maintenance area are all welded or bolted by square tubes. The 4mm wall thickness ensures a load-bearing capacity of 500kg/㎡, and the surface hot-dip galvanizing treatment (zinc layer thickness 200g/㎡) prevents it from rusting in a humid environment within 5 years. What is more worth mentioning is that some square tubes have reserved cable grooves inside, which reserve invisible channels for the future intelligent transformation of auto repair shops (such as wiring of new energy vehicle charging piles).

At present, this batch of steel components has entered the on-site storage stage, and it is expected that the main structure will be capped in October 2025 and put into operation in the first quarter of 2026. After commissioning, the auto repair shop will be equipped with 12 new energy vehicle maintenance stations, 3 bus deep maintenance workshops and intelligent parts storage centers, with an annual service capacity of more than 20,000 vehicles, becoming a benchmark project in the Philippine automotive after-sales service industry.
